New season of summer cinema in Prague

After the winter break, the new season of summer cinema has begun again. Open-air cinemas in Prague traditionally attract visitors every year from the beginning of June until the end of September. And the programme of films on offer is truly varied, including blockbusters and award-winning films, and less well-known films. So where can you enjoy screenings under the stars?

Original Kinobus

Prague Public Transit Co. Inc. organises an annual film tour with their original mobile Kinobus. This bus carries professional projection technology, an inflatable 8x4 metre projection screen and a bench for 200 spectators.

This year, Kinobus started its route on the 17th of June for the twelfth time. On its way, it will stop at twelve traditional spots in the Czech capital, up until the 5th of September. Screenings are free of charge.

Summer cinema on the bank of the Čertovka

You can also go see a movie in the summer cinema U Werichů, in the beautiful surroundings of the romantic Čertovka canal. This will be the third season in the garden of Werich Villa. Regular visitors already know that viewers receive a set of headphones when they arrive, so the noise from the film does not disturb the neighbours in Lesser Town (‘Malá Strana’).

Film fans will see six screenings on the bank of the Čertovka, during which they will make excursions to “different worlds”, including that of Meda Mládková, the founder of the Jan and Meda Mládek Foundation and the Kampa Museum, who will celebrate her 100th birthday on the 8th of September.

Here, you can look forward to the third Bridget Jones movie, as well as the Czech film ‘Po čem muži touží’ (‘What Men Want’).The screenings always start after sunset.

The relationship between humans and nature in MeetFactory

Every Wednesday, film lovers can go to MeetFactory in Prague 5. This year, MeetFactory will focus on films related to the relationship between humans and nature. In doing so, it will allow cinemagoers to reflect on the changes that are happening to our planet.
