International padel tournament in Prague

The padel tournament, International Padel Experience by Madison, will take place in Prague for the first time from the 16th to the 18th of August.

This niche sport is sometimes known as the sport of the 21st century. It is a unique combination of squash, tennis and ricochet, with some new original features.

This racquet sport originated in South America and is slowly beginning to spread throughout Europe, including the Czech Republic. It is an exciting, entertaining, relatively light, sociable, prestigious and spectacular sport.

How to play padel?

Padel is played in doubles on a 20 x 10 metre court, which is one third the size of a tennis court. The court is fenced with glass and wire walls that can be used for bouncing the ball, similarly to squash, as long as it’s within the rules.

Like tennis, the padel court is divided in the middle by a net and the ground is made of artificial grass. The scoring system is the same as tennis and the balls are similar to tennis balls. However, the players must serve underhand, and the rackets are shorter, and have small holes, instead of string.
