Cycling season begins!
Prague City Hall has launched another cycling season.
The popularity of cycling is growing in the Czech capital, as is proven by the automatic bicycle-counting devices which are installed in various locations around the city. Throughout the year 2018, these devices counted approximately 4 million cyclists, which is 2.5% more than in 2017. Prague plans to support the growth of the number of cyclists, especially by investing in infrastructure. For example, City Hall plans to construct the following cycle paths this year: Cholupice – Dolní Břežany; ‘Vodní prostup Rokytka’, which will create a shortcut on route A26 and other routes from Vltava to Dolní Počernice; and ‘Prostřední cesta u Kolodějí’. Furthermore, City Hall plans to upgrade the existing cycle path in the area Sedlec – Suchdol, and to finish the last part of the Zbraslav - Jarov cycle path. At the same time, new cycling lanes will appear on other streets.
The cycling season will begin with the 10th annual cycling trade fair FOR BIKES 2019, which will take place from the 29th to the 31st of March 2019 in PVA Expo Prague in Letňany. The project ‘Čistou stopou Prahou’ will introduce the cycling activities of the City of Prague; and the study ‘KOLárna’ will present its results about parking spaces for bicycles in Prague.
