Prague: the heart of nations

29.5.2019 — The 21st international festival, "Prague Heart of Nations 2019", is the largest joint event for minorities in the Czech Republic, bringing a wealth of traditions from nations around the world. From the 30th of May to the 3rd of June, the festival will symbolically take place in the heart of Europe - the historical centre of Prague. Since 1999, musicians, singers and dancers have come to the Czech capital to perform traditional folk art from their native countries. This year, Prague will welcome a wide range of artists once again.

International triathlon in Prague city centre

25.7.2019 — The historical centre of Prague is hosting the international triathlon Ford Challenge Prague for the third year. This sporting event, which will take place on the 27th of July, is unforgettable for the athletes, as well as for fans and whole families.

New Year's projection to light up the National Museum Historic Building

29.12.2019 — The city of Prague will welcome the year 2020 with a New Year's projection mapping called 'MY, PRAHA' ('WE, PRAGUE'), which will light up the National Museum's historic building on Wenceslas Square. Both the residents of Prague and visitors to the Czech capital will have the opportunity to see this relatively new form of spatial art on the 1st of January 2020 at 6:15pm, 7:15pm and 8:15pm.

The Four Continents Jazz festival in Jazz Dock

10.1.2019 — The annual series of concerts of exceptional musicians from four continents will take place once again in Prague club Jazz Dock. Renowned American guitarist Julian Lage, trumpet virtuoso Ambrose Akinmusire, walking in the footsteps of Miles Davis, and Israeli double bass player Adam Ben Ezra will all partake.

Prague Planetarium offers new adventure for explorers of all ages

11.7.2020 — When making your plans for the summer, be sure to include Prague Planetarium on your schedule. You will be able to enjoy new shows and see the stars, as well as virtually visit the surface of Venus, among other places. Prague Planetarium is one of the largest planetariums in the world, and the only one of its kind in the Czech Republic. The main hall, Cosmorama, is 23.5 metres wide and its dome reaches a height of 15 metres, and it seats 210 spectators.

Filmasia Festival to be filled with Hong Kong action movies

4.12.2019 — From the 5th to the 8th of December, Lucerna and Ponrepo cinemas in Prague will offer audiences a large selection of Asian action films full of martial arts during the new annual Filmasia festival. The festival is entering its fifteenth season this year. It has brought great Asian films to Prague since 2005.

‘Manifesto’ and ‘Inwald’ – two new exhibitions in MeetFactory

30.11.2019 — Two exhibitions start in Smíchov cultural centre on the 27th of November. They are 'Manifesto' by an art collective called 'Class of Interpretation', and 'Inwald' by Ondřej Vicena.

Celebrate Indian Independence on Střelecký Island

13.8.2019 — The Bollywood Film Festival, in cooperation with the Indian Embassy in Prague, has prepared a family fun day with a rich cultural programme to celebrate Indian Independence Day. On the 15th of August 1947, British rule in India ceased and the nation became independent. You can commemorate this event on the 15th of August on Střelecký Island in Prague.

Czech Press Photo 2017

1.12.2017 — Old Town Hall to host the best of Czech Press Photo 2017 until the end of January. The exhibition presents a total of almost 500 photographs and videos from over 100 authors.

Prague sings: Hej mistře! (Hey Master!)

23.12.2018 — It is traditionally celebrated at midnight on Christmas Eve, in various locations in the Capital. 'Czech Christmas Mass', also known as Hej mistře! ('Hey Master!'), popularly called Rybovka, and in Latin Missa solemnis Festis Nativitatis D. J. Ch. acomodata in linguam bohemicam musicam, abriviated to Missa pastoralis bohemika, is a Czech religious composition written by Jakub Jan Ryba. It is the first written liturgical composition in Czech. Rybovka is a pastoral play set in Czechia that narrates the story of the Annunciation of Christ's birth and the arrival of shepherds to the manger in the stable. It was composed in 1796 and hand-written copies quickly spread throughout the Kingdom of Bohemia. The original score has not been preserved, and the versions that are played today are compiled based on critical analyses of the hand-written copies.
