Pražští symfonikové zahrají ve Valdštejnské zahradě Smetanu, Dvořáka, Janáčka i filmovou hudbu

19.8.2024 — Tradiční předehrou k sezónám Pražských symfoniků je volně přístupný open air koncert ve Valdštejnské zahradě. Ten letošní se koná ve středu 28. srpna od 17 hodin. Před vstupem do jubilejní 90. sezóny je program opravdu slavnostní; při příležitosti Roku české hudby zazní díla Bedřicha Smetany, Antonína Dvořáka a Leoše Janáčka, posluchači se však mohou těšit i na árie z oper zahraničních skladatelů a také hudbu z filmů Angelika, Forrest Gump, Anděl Páně 2 a Arabela. Charles Bridge Renovation Began

14.9.2007 — At last the Charles Bridge renovation finally started, it has been planned since 1991. Its completion date is 11th June 2010 and the repairs should prevent water leakage and improve the infrastructure of the bridge and its access roads. Repair works cost more than 222 million crowns and doesn't concern the stone bridge's antique patina as this will be repaired in 10 years time.

Another successful year for Prague Zoo

18.1.2019 — Prague Zoo is one of the best zoos in the world, and was ranked fifth-best internationally last year. The zoo's breeding programmes have been successful - 1340 animals were born here in the last year. New species of animals have been introduced to the zoo, including the Etruscan shrew, the smallest mammal in the world. This insectivore, which is between 3 and 5 centimetres long excluding the tail and has an average body mass of 1.8 grams, is to be found from the end of the summer in the pavilion 'African House'.

International triathlon in Prague city centre

25.7.2019 — The historical centre of Prague is hosting the international triathlon Ford Challenge Prague for the third year. This sporting event, which will take place on the 27th of July, is unforgettable for the athletes, as well as for fans and whole families.

State of emergency - COVID-19

13.3.2020 — On Thursday, March 12, the Czech government approved the announcement of an emergency situation throughout the Czech Republic. Emergency is declared for 30 days. Since March 16, Czech government declared ban on traveling abroad and entry of foreigners into the Czech Republic from all around the world. The measures are in effect until further notice. Art in Cinema presents the Hermitage

9.1.2020 — Explore the St. Petersburg Museum of Art and its three million artworks with the documentary 'Hermitage: The Power of Art'. The film will be screened on the 11th, the 12th, the 14th, and the 17th of January in the Světozor Cinema, as part of the 'Umění v kině' ('Art in Cinema') series.

25th International Organ Festival

6.8.2020 — The 25th International Organ Festival will take place from the 6th of August to the 24th of September in the Basilica of St. James the Greater in Prague's Old Town. Festival goers will have the opportunity to enjoy solo organ recitals by leading Czech and international organists.

New Year's projection to light up the National Museum Historic Building

29.12.2019 — The city of Prague will welcome the year 2020 with a New Year's projection mapping called 'MY, PRAHA' ('WE, PRAGUE'), which will light up the National Museum's historic building on Wenceslas Square. Both the residents of Prague and visitors to the Czech capital will have the opportunity to see this relatively new form of spatial art on the 1st of January 2020 at 6:15pm, 7:15pm and 8:15pm.
