List of town heritage sites

The Council of the capital city Prague – Department of Preservation has been working for a long time on a project for creating an independent List of town heritage sites or their ensembles.

In the Prague heritage site reserve, as well as within the territory of the whole of Prague, there are many buildings and localities that are not registered in the existing Register of immovable and moveable heritage sites, run by the National heritage site institute, nor have been proposed for declaration, but are from a point of view of heritage site care valuable and together significantly constitute the form and irreplaceable character of the Prague cultural landscape.

The purpose of this project is to target and protect heritage sites specified in this way, to accentuate their exceptionality, and by doing so to contribute to their preservation as irreplaceable sources of recognition and proof of the level and development of our city in the past. Historical structures and heritage sites contribute to developing public interest in the issue of heritage site care and to in no small way increase awareness in this specific field.

The register of town heritage sites will be supplemented by further moveable and immovable heritage sites or their ensembles, which supplement and enrich the preserved cultural living environment of historical and present-day Prague and its landscape.
